Mediation Services for Men and Women

Mediation is an informal process in which a trained third party acts as a facilitator to help parties reach agreements and or resolve disputes. Mediation is quick, private and relatively inexpensive. The process of Mediation can help to preserve relationships between the parties by avoiding impasse and acrimony, often created by litigation.

If you are divorcing and have minor children (under the age of 18 yrs.) you will need a Joint Parenting Agreement, or JPA, as part of your dissolution of marriage legal document. Making decisions about co-parenting and the future of your children is made much easier when you can mediate your agreement. Although, after divorce, you will no longer be partners, you will always be your children's parents. Being able to sit down with a Mediator to create your Joint Parenting Agreement is a great way to transition into the new family structure. Cooperation and respect in this process, paves the way for smoother roads ahead.

As a trained Mediator, I can assist you with creating your Joint Parenting Agreement. Often, attorneys will refer couples to Mediators for this part of the divorce process or couples can choose, on their own, to proceed in this manner to create their own, personalized and customized JPA.

I will also work with an attorney and Co-Mediate the Marital Settlement Agreement, MSA, which is the other necessary component of your Dissolution of Marriage legal document. The MSA covers the division of assets, child support, spousal support and any other financial matters/decisions. Having Co-Mediators offers unique benefits. If we mediate both the MSA and the JPA, you will be given what is called a Memorandum of Understanding, or a MOU. The MOU is what you bring to an attorney, who will then create the legal document necessary to present to the court and the Judge, in order to procure your Dissolution of Marriage Document….legal divorce papers.
